How long do BMC batteries last? In general, the BMW battery life varies from 2-6 years. There are a variety of factors that impact a battery’s life, which we’ll cover later on. More importantly, there are obvious signs of a dying car battery that you’ll need to know so you don’t get stuck on Sterling and Loudoun Country roads. Factors That Can Shorten BMW Battery Life

As you drive your BMW through DC Metro Area streets, you’ll have some natural wear and tear that will impact your battery’s life and performance. Many of our customers ask “When should I replace my BMW battery?”. Typically it should be replaced every 3-4 years. To maintain this, be aware of the following factors that could shorten your battery life:

    • Driving Frequency: When your car sits idle for extended periods of time, the car battery weakens. Make sure to take your car on a drive at least once or twice a week to keep it healthy.

  • Driving distance: Every now and then, take the longer route as you head to work, the grocery store, or the gym, especially before you go on a long vacation. This will give the battery more time to charge.
  • Awareness: Pay attention to what you’re doing when you’re handling your car. Don’t leave the power on when your ignition is off. Turning off the interior lights will quickly drain your battery as well.

  • Driving Habits: If you don't drive much, and tend to leave your vehicle sitting for long periods of time, you could be weakening your car's battery. During your commute, try taking the longer scenic route, so your car's battery has more time to charge. Also, make sure you don't leave the power on when the ignition is off. Leaving an interior light on overnight can easily drain the battery.
